A view with insight - high above the Jøsenfjord in Ryfylke

Galleri Hagalid (Hagalid gallery) at Hagalid mountain farm in Hjelmeland (in Rogaland county) is an art gallery in two old carefully restored houses, Sofiehuset (Sofie's house) and Eldhuset (the smoke house). Self service cafe and art exhibitions and sale of Norwegian art and crafts. The art items are made by professional artists mainly from the fjords. Old furniture and other old items makes the houses also to a small farm museum. The hostess will gladly tell you about the history of the farm wich got electricity and a road first in 1960.
The old farm is situated 300 m above sea level of Jøsenfjorden, Hjelmeland municipality in the fjord region of Ryfylke.
Hiking? 10 minutes drive up from Hjelmelandsvågen and National Scenic Route Ryfylke (Road 13) the gallery and café is a perfect place to stop on the trip between Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock)  by the Lysefjord south in the Ryfylke region and Trolltunga north in the Hardanger region. Don’t forget to try the 5 hours hike to Skomakarnibbå (Shoemakers peak) 

Café (self service) all opening days in the exhibition periods with waffles and homemade jam, cakes, ice cream, coffee, tea, apple juice, local beer and wine. Homemade soups with fresh baked bread and homemade traditional Norwegian flatbread in weekends (Sat + Sun) in the exhibition periods. Ask for the menu!

Please take note that the gallery is not open all days, only during the exhibition periods every year (Spring, summer, autumn and one weekend in November). Look carefully for the opening hours during the exhibitions or book as a group for a meal (min 8 pax).
Taste our local slow food based mainly on local products! Have your meal inside or outside in the garden with a beautiful view towards lake Hagalidvatnet and the fjords and mountains.

Groups (from 8 pax) are welcome other days by booking in advance (at least 2 days before). We recommend groups allways to book meals in advance.

Short guided historic stroll around the farm on request, easy walk. See the beautiful fjord landscape with Christmas tree production, the historic pasture land with sheep and foresting.
