Lesja Iron Works

Lesja Iron Works was in operation from 1659 until 1812. You will find the history of this industrial activity at information plaques along the 1,5 km long cultural heritage trail in the neighbourhood. The blast furnace from 1757, which is partly restored, is the only one in Norway left of its kind from that time. The main building on the farm, which the also the main building of the old Iron Works, was built in 1734. A newly built house contains information on the area, and there is also a longer cultural trail to the mountain mines.
