Pålebrua Bridge

Pålebrua is a so-called utleggsbru beam bridge, constructed from hand-shaped logs. This was a normal way of building bridges in this district, but now only Pålebrua and the bridge over Tora survive here in Skjåk. Many people are surprised how wide and solid the bridge is. On the north side of the bridge there was a mill that was used until the beginning of the 20th century. This was the home of "Pålen" or Iva Pålsen. It is his name that has been lent to the bridge, but the bridge is evidently a great deal older. Oversettelse © www.noproblem.no 2009.
